The Obit of Allen E. Tilley, the Son of Nettie (Dunavant) Tilley
MUNCIE - Allen E. Tilley, 77, passed away early Saturday morning, August 30, 2014, at the AMG Specialty Hospital located at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 30, 1937, in Muncie, the son of William Edward and Nettie (Dunavant) Tilley.
Allen married the love of his life Kathryn (Doss) Tilley on June 13, 1959 in Muncie and she survives. Mr. Tilley had been a press operator and Die Polisher for Broderick's Foundry for twenty-nine years prior to their closing. He was a member of the American Legion in Selma, Anchor Sympathy Club of Winchester, a former member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and later had become a member of the Four Square Gospel Church, where he had served as a deacon at one time.
Allen enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, playing his guitar and race cars, mainly NASCAR. He especially liked to follow Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Besides his wife of fifty-five years, Kathryn, he is survived by two sons, Sam Tilley (girlfriend, Mary Morgan), Portland and Benny Tilley (girlfriend, Kathy Jones), Selma; two daughters, Kathy Rouch, Parker City and Luttica Williams (husband, Dave), Hartford City; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Joseph Tilley, Muncie and Frederick Tilley (wife, Mary), Savannah, Georgia; and two sisters, Freda Davis, Albany, Kentucky and Pamela Jefferson, Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Tilley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
